Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: Train with the Best at Creighton MMA

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art and combat sport that emphasizes ground fighting, aiming to gain a dominant position to force an opponent to submit. Originating from the Gracie family, BJJ enables smaller individuals to defend themselves against larger assailants using leverage and technique. At Creighton Mixed Martial Arts Academy, our BJJ techniques are directly from the renowned Renzo Gracie Academy in New York City, known for proving BJJ's effectiveness across various martial arts disciplines.

Our adult Brazilian Jiujitsu program at Creighton MMA consists of three levels: introduction, beginner, and intermediate/advanced, allowing students to learn progressively and build a solid foundation. Whether you seek self-defense skills, physical fitness, personal growth, or competitive opportunities, our program caters to diverse goals. Whether you live in Suwanee, Buford, Sugar Hill, Cumming, Duluth, or Lawrenceville areas, we welcome you to experience our academy and join our BJJ community. We look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your martial arts and fitness goals.

How do I get started?

Call 770-271-5292 or schedule your FREE introductory class. This class includes a 45 minute session that teaches you basic techniques of BJJ and a consultation to see what program you are looking for, and we will answer any questions that you may have.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts can provide you with far more extensive results than typical aerobic exercise. The resistance encountered while training in BJJ and MMA provides you with a good base to improve your core strength through intense abdominal work, increases your muscle tone, and reduces body fat while improving your balance, bodily coordination, cardiovascular capacity, and muscular endurance.

Common Questions

Yes, we offer both Gi and No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes. We provide an equal balance of training in both styles, ensuring our students develop a well-rounded skill set. At Creighton MMA, we believe that earning a black belt means being able to perform at a high level in both Gi and No-Gi. Mastery in each form of Jiu-Jitsu is a core part of our philosophy and progression system.

What makes Creighton MMA different is our family-like atmosphere, world-class instruction, and a genuine passion for helping every student grow—on and off the mat. We combine decades of experience with a supportive, ego-free environment where beginners and seasoned athletes alike feel welcome. Whether you're here to learn self-defense, compete, or just get in shape, you'll be surrounded by coaches and teammates who truly care about your progress.

We have many different packages depending on how often you would like to train and what classes you would like to begin. When you come into your free intro class we will give you a price list and breakdown of all the packages that we offer at Creighton MMA Academy.

No, you are not required to compete. Most of our students sign up at Creighton MMA Academy to get in shape and learn a realistic self defense system at the same time with no intentions to ever compete. With this being said, there are also students that do want to compete. There are many local, state, national and international competitions to compete in each year. We have students that compete in both BJJ and MMA competitions throughout the year.

Absolutely not. The number one reason why students begin their training with us is to get in shape and feel better. Come in and begin training no matter what your fitness level is. We are here to help you reach your fitness goals.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu differs from other martial arts in that it provides solutions for all possible stages of combat. Other disciplines like Tang So Do or Karate focus on striking and rely on a person's strength and speed to deliver damage, but speed and strength doesn't matter when you're training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu differs from other martial arts fundamentally. While other martial arts rely heavily on strength and speed, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu relies on superior technique and leverage to control your opponent and apply submissions.

At Creighton Mixed Martial Arts Academy safety is paramount. Accidents can happen, as in any other sport, but we pay close attention to safety and take extra precautions so that training is not only realistic but safe and enjoyable.

What our students are saying…

At CMMA there are great training partners at all BJJ ranks. You are guaranteed a competitive roll each time you hit the mat, period. I have had more positive training experiences since joining the CMMA team than I can list here.
After spending the last 6 to 7 years at the “Fitness Chains” I have never obtained results I get from your Fitness Kickboxing and Total Body Fitness Classes. Without your help, it is doubtful I would be in the best shape of my life.  I look forward to many more years.
I have done some training in other martial arts schools in the past.  None have even come close to the quality of training I have received at this academy. I heartily recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning martial arts and improving their overall fitness.
