Dear Parents and Students,
Re-opening of Creighton MMA & Fitness Academy from temporary COVID-19 closure
- Beginning Tuesday May 5th: All FITNESS CLASSES will begin (Fitness Kickboxing and TBF Classes).
- Beginning Monday May 11th: ADULT BJJ & MMA STRIKING, as well as continued fitness classes.
- Beginning Wednesday May 13th: KID’S BJJ/MMA, as well as continued Adult BJJ, MMA striking and fitness classes.
We will be staggering the re-opening of our academy, beginning Tuesday May 5th with only fitness classes to start with (Fitness Kickboxing and TBF). The week after (Monday May 11th) will be the addition of Adult BJJ & MMA striking classes. Wednesday May 13th will be the addition of Kid’s BJJ & MMA classes.
Due to social distancing guidelines, we will not be able to have our Adult or Kid’s BJJ classes include partner drilling or sparring until we reach phase three. Have no worries, the classes will be great nonetheless!! Health officials are saying that each phase will last approximately 2 weeks if the numbers continue to decline as predicted. This would then put us around May 22nd for phase 3.
What we have done to help reduce any potential spread:
- We have literally disinfected the entire academy from top to bottom. We will continue to disinfect everything daily after each use.
- We obviously are not allowing anyone with flu like symptoms, even if they do not have a temperature, to train. Please if you are sick at all or do not feel good, do not come in to train.
- We now have 6 hand sanitizing/washing stations throughout the academy. (2) in the mat area, (3) in the fitness area and (1) in the lobby. These do not include our bathrooms.
- You have the option to wear a mask at all times if you choose to.
- Our fitness classes will have an “inside" limit of 14 participants within the fitness area. All bags and stations are 6 feet from one another.
- We have staggered the classes so that there is always 15 minutes between each class which allows the class to leave before the next one comes in.
- Jiu-Jitsu mats will be disinfected after each class
- There are additional spray disinfectant bottles, that we will have out, to spray down your machine or station and exercise equipment before the next person uses it.
- All employees will have temperatures taken every day before they start.
- All fitness classes, adult classes and kid’s classes will have students practicing social distancing (6 feet) until Phase 3 of the opening phases begins.
- Only 2 students allowed in the locker rooms at one time
We ask that students and parents follow some rules that we have set forth for each class until we reach phase 3. These are as follows:
Fitness Classes: Starting Tuesday May 5th
- We have only 14 working bags set up in our fitness kickboxing area now. Each bag is at least 6 feet apart from the next. We ask that when you get to class, to stand by your bag to help keep social distancing at all times.
- We have staggered all classes with 15 minutes between each class. Fitness Kickboxing will be 45 minutes long until phase 3. When fitness classes are over please leave soon after so that you do not cross over with the next class coming in.
- Please wipe down your plyo box, medicine ball, bands and equipment after class with the supplied spray bottles we will have.
- Please do not come early, come on time so that we do not have students standing around the academy during these 1st two phases of social distancing.
- Please come alone or with a family member that will be participating in the same class. We understand that many parents bring their children with them as they work out. During the 1st two phases we can only have participants in the academy who are going to train in that class due to social distancing guidelines. At phase 3, other family members or friends who are non members will then be able to come in as well.
- Only 2 students in the locker rooms at one time
- If possible please come dressed and ready to train
- If you would like to wear a mask, of course this is fine
- Please bring sneakers to each TBF class. If weather permits, classes will be outside in the fitness park. :0)
Adult BJJ & MMA Striking Classes: Starting Monday May 11th
- We have a max size of 24 participants for each class. Each student will have their designated 10x10 spot on the mat. If you have boxing gloves and shin pads please bring your own for the MMA Striking classes.
- IMPORTANT: Adult BJJ Students: Make a grappling dummy (Many videos on YouTube under search of “Making grappling Dummy”) Please make your own homemade grappling dummy by looking at a video on YouTube. We will also be sending out a video as well in the next few days. All you will need is your GI, a few smaller pillows, 4 towels and possibly swim noodles and duct tape if you would like to reinforce it. It takes approx. 15-20 minutes to make. Very simple to make.. The grappling dummy is only needed for adults, not the kid’s classes.
- You can wear No-Gi to class, but the dummy will be in a Gi for techniques.
- Please bring a medical mask of some type to class.
- When you get on the mat please go to one of the designated 24 spots which assures required social distancing.
